A break with some personal news...
As I have again predicted: A no-show.
She sent me a text message sometime in the middle of last week when she could visit. I told her, Sunday, 1:00 to 5:00p.m. as the court order says. She said she would be there.
I texted her back because my mother informed me that we would have a reunion at our house that day. I offered to move the visit to Saturday, but if she wanted to insist on the Sunday to incur the wrath of my relatives, it was fine by me. There was no reply.
That Friday, she texted me she will come on Monday (declared a holiday). I agreed.
So we had a wonderful reunion party last Sunday. Suffice it to say that it was the first time my webcam was put to good use, as we likewise had "virtual reunions" with our relatives in Toronto and the United States. (I will never cease to marvel at technology...and broadband...but I digress...)
Monday came. 12:00 noon went. No text.
So I texted her because I had to arrange for the guards to allow her to pass through our village.
12:30 p.m. She texted back saying she was waiting for "her" money so she could bring something for her kids.
3:00 p.m. Still a no-show so I texted her saying she only has until 5:00 p.m. and I could not extend the hours since I did not own the house (my parents did, and I could not demand anything more from them since we were fortunate that they took us into their home in the first place).
5:00 p.m. came again without an appearance. So we just went to the corner barbershop/beauty parlor and got haircuts. Had Bea's long hair trimmed by about an inch. Then Nico and I sported semikals.
I did not text her on the importance of her visits to her children for her and probably my kids also. It was her loss, not mine.
But inside, I'm thinking, "What kind of a mother is she?" This was her opportunity to see her children for more than a year and she wasted two visits already on flimsy excuses. My children are not demanding kids. She could even give them a pack or two of Boy Bawang (costing way less than the shuttle fare to where she works) and they would be extremely happy...
Well, this is just another proof that I'd rather have another mother (if at all) for my children than making do with the mother they have. My kids deserve better...
Oh, well! Tomorrow, another lecture!
