A Choir Convention
Rarely do I make shameless plugs in my main blog. But this is important to me, or to us, the BPOCC. This is lifted
verbatim from
Bukas Palad's website:
For the past 19 years, Bukas Palad Music Ministry in partnership with the Jesuit Music Ministry (JMM) of the Jesuit Communications Foundation, Inc. (JesCom) has sought to give voice to the deepest desires and prayers of people yearning for the Lord. With the guidance of its founders, Fr. Manoling Francisco, S.J., Norman Agatep and Jandi Arboleda, Bukas Palad has used music as a tool for evangelization and enriching the faith. As the group approaches its 20th anniversary, it now seeks to involve more people in their ministry with the hope that a greater number of people will find their own voices and sing their praises and thanksgiving to our Lord. With this vision in mind, Bukas Palad has lined up a series of activities to celebrate 20 fruitful years of music and ministry: two new albums, a song-writing contest, a choir convention and an anniversary concert. The celebration kicks-off with the choir convention, aptly titled Bayan Umawit!
The Choir Convention, on 2 July 2005, Saturday, 12 noon to 8:30 in the evening at the Ateneo de Manila High School covered courts. This event aims to inspire the music ministry and spark new enthusiasm and drive in its members for its effective function and significance in the community. It hopes to be a venue for all involved to interact with each other and form a community. Bayan Umawit will feature exemplary Church workers and artists such as Fr. Manoling Francisco S.J., Fr. Arnel B. Aquino, SJ, Fr. Carlo Magno Marcelo, and Fr. Mimo Perez who will be sharing their knowledge and experiences. There will also be a celebration of the Holy Eucharist and performances by Hangad and other choirs, and a mini-concert by Bukas Palad and Mr. Noel Cabangon. Bayan Umawit! is open to all who are interested, 15 years old and above.
Visit their
website for more information on how to join, if you are interested.
BTW, the BPOCC, my online choir, will be performing there. Based on our practice, we shall be performing two songs. The first, an a capella version of Kung Yong Nanaisin, BPOCC's signature song. The second, duet called Pananatili with a flute portion for me [you remember the "filler" MTVs in IBC13 and RPN9 that tells a story of a husband working in Manila and the wife in the province writing "snail mail" (Oooooooh!) to each other?].
2 Objection(s):
yeah, I saw that filler MTV in IBC and RPN...I like it.
Good plugging Punzi! I want my daughter to join the choir here next year so she'll learn some church songs that I used to sing when I was her age.
Lam mo ba, we went yesterday to the Phil Independence Day celebration here in Washington DC, ang aga no?, pero 5 blocks away lang kami sa Smithsonian Mall kung saan ginanap.
