First Gig

We survived the first gig of our chamber group today. It was an easy enough audience because they were pre-school kids.

We play three songs in Nico's school function, a sort of graduation ceremony. These were "Fiddler on the Roof/Sunrise, Sunset Medley," "We've only just begun," a request of Nico's teacher and "Anniversary Waltz."

They're easy to please. But their attention span is very short. We sort of lost them coming into the last song. Having old songs even older than the parents there did not help either.

This was the practice session an hour before our gig. Before you say another word, yes that's Ariel Ureta on the far right. Our maestro is the elderly violinist with the glasses beside me. He was ecstatic that our group finally broke the proverbial performance ice.

Anyway, this was Nico's last day of school and it appears he made it through. He'll spend one more year in this school before I get him to a big elementary school.
