This day in history from:

Teleconferencing

One of our associates was absent yesterday, but we needed her to be present during our weekly lawyer's meeting, as she had a lot of cases to report.

The solution? A teleconference.

Since we had our firm internet and domain running Google Apps, we set up our iChat for Google Talk and from there, the associate was with us during our meeting via a teleconference.

It was a first for us. But as our managing partner said, "This is the exception, not the rule. I don't want in the future talking to computers." Reminds me of a scene from "The Demolition Man."

And then the fun started when I started to offer her food...

Then, there was still work today, to prepare for our big case (that would take the entire firm to service) next week.

I still had time to rest a little before choir, which went pretty well.

Now, I hope I can catch up on some rest tomorrow... I expect there's nothing to do tomorrow so rest and recreation will be the most probably agenda.

Have a good weekend.

IMO, saying that "I don't want in the future talking to computers" is like peeking out of the ostrich's head-hole; s/he would only want to welcome change in tiny increments when change is all around us.

Almost one-tenth of our countrymen communicate through webcams or 3G phones, yet your managing partner refuses to see this trend as mainstream.

I'm sure s/he has already accepted various leaps in technology that has come about, like MMS phones & blogging (as you have previously discussed). I guess it would take some time for him/her to accept online conferences as the norm.

But knowing that you run a veritable network of computers at home and a veritable techie to boot, I'm probably preaching to the converted... Hehehe!

Just an opinion; I don't want to get sued by you, your boss, or your firm! Peace! :)

Heheheheheh!

He just meant, he does not want us just to use this newly-available teleconferencing facility as an excuse to be physically absent from these crucial weekly meetings.

But between you an me, he's the one who want to be absent and just use this facility as his excuse. Shhhhh!

PRAYER FOR GENEROSITY
Lord Jesus,
Teach me to be generous,
Teach me to serve You as You deserve
To give and not to count the cost,
To fight and not to heed the wounds,
To toil and not to seek for rest,
To labor and not to ask for reward,
except that of knowing
That I do Your Holy Will. Amen

THE LAWYER'S PRAYER
May every word I speak be from Your Truth...
I ask come from Your Wisdom...
May every case I handle receive Your Guidance...
May every heart, every life I touch, feel Your Love.

THE JABEZ PRAYER
And Jabez called on the God of Israel saying,
"Oh, that You would bless me indeed,
and enlarge my territory,
that Your Hand be with me,
that You would keep me from evil,
that I may not cause pain."

So God granted him what he requested.
