This day in history from:

Too Familiar

People who know me personally know I frequent this mall in front of my government consultancy, more because I avail of their parking facilities (there are only a few slots in the building where I go to) than anything else.

Today was so different. Or more accurately, too much.

I usually go there on Mondays for regular weekly meetings and then spend some time wandering about its gadget section just to drool and ogle at stuff I can never afford. This day was no exception. Parked there and went on my usual rounds...

But today is my mother's birthday. So when I arrived home late afternoon, my dad was going to treat us to her birthday dinner.

I'll give you one guess where we decided to go... Finally had the chance to purchase some of those Napoleones I'm always salivating over, though... Munching through them sure brought back some memories...

From the site I linked from:

"Napoleones is a small, square, layered puff pastry with a sugar glaze on top and filled with a luscious custard cream in the center. It is sold in dozens by the box, each pastry in is own paper liner.

It is delectably light and airy yet filling at the same time, the glaze providing sweetness but can be cracked and peeled off if it proves too much.

Napoleones possibly was adapted from the napoleon, which is how the French pastry mille-fuille (a thousand leaves) is called outside of France, which in turn is claimed to have originated from Naples in Italy, thus the name."

If you're still here in the Philippines, you can buy them at the Block, second floor near the escalator and the appliance center.

regards

Side Prayers

PRAYER FOR GENEROSITY
Lord Jesus,
Teach me to be generous,
Teach me to serve You as You deserve
To give and not to count the cost,
To fight and not to heed the wounds,
To toil and not to seek for rest,
To labor and not to ask for reward,
except that of knowing
That I do Your Holy Will. Amen

THE LAWYER'S PRAYER
May every word I speak be from Your Truth...
I ask come from Your Wisdom...
May every case I handle receive Your Guidance...
May every heart, every life I touch, feel Your Love.

THE JABEZ PRAYER
And Jabez called on the God of Israel saying,
"Oh, that You would bless me indeed,
and enlarge my territory,
that Your Hand be with me,
that You would keep me from evil,
that I may not cause pain."

So God granted him what he requested.
