Hiring?
Seems like we're attracting very good applicants these days. We don't know if we offer a competitive salary because I really don't ask other law firms how much they pay their associates.
But I guess their salary would depend on their experience level. Of course, we wouldn't pay an underbar the same salary as a lawyer that passed the bar. And of course, we wouldn't pay a lawyer who just passed the bar the same salary as one with more than year's experience.
I don't know if the kind of experience we offer our associates is conducive to their growth. But we do get the typical cases (collection, bouncing checks, etc.), but once in a while (but becoming frequent), we get big and complex cases. Our corporate and special projects work is beginning to catch up, too because we are getting big, international clients these days. This is the reason we may need to hire.
In any case, I can think of two reasons we are beginning to attract applicants from the good schools. First, we had our first firm outing in Boracay, who knows where we will go next year? Second, we issue MacBooks to our associates.
