Looking at the Bright Side
1. Had a hearing that I just knew about 30 minutes before it was to start. Present were none other that Supreme Court Justices and a very formidable opponent.
The bright side: The venue was only 5 minutes from my house, I think we defended our client's position pretty well even against such adversity and of course, the appearance is billable...
2. The big case I'm working on recently will probably push through instead of getting settled quickly.
The bright side: We'll win in the end, even if it takes a little longer and the conversation with the client opened with an opportunity which may turn out to be even better that what settling this case will bring.
3. "That girl" called tonight asking to exercise her visitation rights.
The bright side: I said she's entitled to visit and she should visit, by all means and if she takes this seriously, at least my children will have a mother. Well I hope she has changed, for her children's sake. I think it's better late than never for her to establish a relationship with her kids.
On a personal note, I did not recognize her voice but when she (re)introduced herself, I felt nothing (no anger, no resentment, nothing, just surprise that she called after more than 2 years), which I think is a good sign. She wanted me present when she visits (two Sundays from now), I said I will be close by but I'll leave them to themselves so she can know her kids without my influence over their behavior.
Anyway, still haven't had a bad day so far.
This is a good change for me. A day becomes good when I think it is... whatever happens.
