From scrap...
I wanted to play around with it to see if it can still be salvaged.
While reviving Scarlett, I put the drive into one of my enclosures and hooked it up to one of the PCs downstairs. Got it reformatted but upon a surface scan, it was replete with a lot of errors.
So I hooked it up to Scarlett again to reformat it for OS X. It was successful but I know those bad sectors will haunt me in the future.
So after the reformat, Time Machine kicked in and asked if I want to convert this disk to my Time Machine back up disk. Since I had nothing to lose anyway, I went for it.
Took some time for the initial back up to complete since I already used up about 34 Gb in Scarlett's new hard drive.
But the drive is still alive, mind you. And I'm still observing it closely. Anyway, it's just the back up drive and as I said before, I really don't have anything lose at this point.
